Disc: 1
1. Sign 'O' the Times
2. Play in the Sunshine
3. Housequake
4. Ballad of Dorothy Parker
5. It
6. Starfish & Coffee
7. Slow Love
8. Hot Thing

1. U Got the Look
2. If I Was Your Girlfriend
3. Strange Relationship
4. I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man
5. Cross
6. Gonna Be a Beautiful Night
7. Adore

1987 was a good year in pop. Michael Jackson released Bad, George Michael Faith, Pet Shop Boys Actually, the charts were overloaded with Madonna (True Blue, Who's that girl?, You can dance) Genesis was touring with Invisible touch and there's this double LP by Prince still fresh and funky. The title song's just like a prehistoric trip-hop electro, Play in the Sunshine happy rockandroll for the parties, The Ballad of... with loveley false notes, It minimal eightees track, Hot Thing funk and break in one... Really cool record, do not hesitate if you can get it for reduced price in Camden Town... or anywhere else.

Off The Beaten Track

another iZborn fave. the reason why this record was chosen as today's editor's choice, is that quantic and doublex inc are gonna dj tonight at Café Mokka Cuka. i have to confess that i know this record just since 3 months but since i am mad about it, always makes me smile, especially the Blackstone Rock how it starts ''the beat goes on... and the beat goes on...'' :)) funny, light summer jam. five star experiment. ten out of ten. i dont wanna write anything about the tracks... hear it yourself.

acid punch

in february, the first time I heard this track i was shocked by the drums. since then nothing's changed. acidic nu skool tribal breaks or whatever... one of the greatest party tunes ever made.
(oh, yeah... acid punch. that's o.k. average tune. just the bonus. you don't buy the record for this.)

what a great vinyl record I do have!!! based on hip-hop downtempo, flavoured with afro beat, dnb, dancehall, funk, r&b and most of all jazzy thoughts... oh my god, why i didn't listen to this record? it's a masterpiece. the same feeling i had with R&C sleepwalking. I had to listen to this more time (firs check it was alright... nothing special) til the songs became my good known friends. same as with a friendship. you have the sympathy at the first sight but the real feelings you get after the third meeting. i bought this one in london and after a month i have to realise the sparkling diamond i've got in my LP-case. i love to love a record like this. tomorrows wurli tracks.

how do you buy records? in a regular vinyl store on a sunny saturday? i must say... that's the average way. would you buy a vinyl 1AM in the morning without listening to it? would you buy a vinyl cos you like the DJ who's playing right there and who made the record? would you ask the resident DJ cos you can't buy it at the bar? would you act like an idiot running from desk til bar to ask these? would you borrow some money to get that extraordinary cheap record? cos i did.

Classic tunes as background music. Everybody knows the Mais que nada, the cover version of Scarborough fair, and the other ones. My fave tune is the Cinnamon and clove, most of all the first 10 seconds, sampled by the Avalanches. Well worth to have, kinda dopaminfave almost a musthave. Trendy.

- Rocko, Ich muss mit dir reden.
- Okey, was ist, mein Schatz?
- Also es ist so... ich... langweile mich sehr in unserer Beziehung.
- Was?

Dead Can Dance meets Enya and the Peace Orchestra. The group's doing their thing since 1985. This record is electronical, down-tempo jazz like Tosca, AtJazz, Peace Orchestra or Dz+K but there's the voice of Teresa Salgueiro. It's perfect to chill out, take a deep breath, or just listen to it in the background. Madredeus made the soundtrack for the 1994 Wenders movie "The Lisboa Story"

Today's classic record. Sometimes I'll mention one of my fave recordings ever. So this is the first of them. Five star - of course.

Maybe I should comment this log. But I can't. There's so much to say about every song on this record. Suntoucher - how it starts, how it gives you everyday energy. Superstylin - the song that makes every party goin high ''joooiiinddaaai'' :) by bb) Little by little - listen to that old blues singer. My Friend - voice by Brandy, and the memories I have to this song, Tuning In - how I love the vocals. And the wonderful Edge Hill - the most emotion that a downtempo hit can give you... The Masterpiece of Groove Armada.

    AA1 rjd2 remix
    AA2 rjd2 instrumental
one of the greatest leftfield releases of the year. smooth soulful vocals by Pete Simspon. slow, clever downtempo, rjd2 knows how to do it. (on side ''A'' there's some dNb version for the teens.) it should have been probably the choice of the day, but there were that white labeled one...

  • colonel abrahams vs evil 9: trapped (2003) *****
    white label
iZborn's choice. Awesome track. Energic, massive beats forced up with one of the blackest voices of the 80's Colonel Abrahams. It's like celebrating a breakbeat-gospel mass, with the hands in the air, reverend abrahams makes the gospel-party goin mad. I'm so proud of this vinyl. And yeah, I'VEGOT IT!!!

dj miss bliss ''search to lose'' *****
In the last days i've been takin' a trip to the countryside, and this music was the only one, i've been listening to. Miss Bliss knows how to play sentimental breakz. The sound's so clear, so girly, and in the same time real deep dark and threatening. Probably a must be downloaded file, and it's got a chance, that it'll be my most frequently listened breakbeat record in the summer. A summer breakbeat (!!) And yeah, I'VE GOT IT (you can have it too)
(FAQ: breakbeat means to me winter 's music)
