un cut - midnight *****
wea, march 2003

A1 midnight
A2 midnight (waiwan remix)
AA midnight (marcus intalex & st files 2003 remix)

She likes it, I like it, we like this song. In march 2002 this song appeared on Mixmag CD Drum and Bass Reborn by Kosheen, it became a party anthem during the summer and I still don't know, why this song's been released just in 2003 in England. That was my fortune, so I bought this LP. Every single track is 10 out of 10. The original version jenna g her magical black voice and the mild breaks are just like a title song of a james bond movie, the waiwan mix (my fave) is the greatest rabbit-jazz song of the year, and the MIST mix and the hc party drum and bass... kosheen is a past, it's un-cut time.

why i'm writing this log now? on monday un-cut's album The Un-Calculated Some will be released. They are walking on a thin line between the popchart/hit-world and the sweet underground dance tunes. I bet this'll be one of the greatest records of the year. turn your speakers on and take a look at www.un-cut.co.uk

a classic one. how many times i've been listening and learning to this music. we were sitting in the room, studiin' some i-dont-know anatomy or plant taxonomy stuff, and this TAPE was rolling. now i thought it's time to archive these moments and bought the CD. great evergreen downtempo tunes from 1995. one of the most determining music i ever had.

hardkandy *****
catskills 2002

project name: get to know your vinyls. i've got the two ep's since ferbruary. now i got the album too. and that's my kind of taste. easy beats, very clever arrangement, lot of instrumental parts, silky female voice and the guy of freak power, ray and christian-like dramatical tunes, down downtempo, micatone and zero7 in one, and a great hidden track at the end, well done, five stars.

dj caretaker knows me, i said. this lp from 1996 (!) touched me really. after yesterdays heavy hip-hop set of dj dsl in MokCuk this guys music (defined as acid jazz... remember this word?) was just fresh as a vanilla icecream with strawberry sirup. k, i agree, every tune is like the other, fine-cut hip hop beats, saxophone and flute chasing eachother, but i liked. i think i should buy it. but after spending 15.000 HUF in one week for books and records, i left this old grey ubiquity vinyl in the store with broken heart.

yesterdays new quintet - angles without edges ****
Stones Throw 2001

A1 Prelude (1:59)
A2 Julani (3:05)
A3 Papa (4:34)
A4 The One Who Knows (3:43)
B1 Paladium (5:53)
B2 Life´s Angles (3:07)
B3 Thinking Of You (3:15)
B4 Uno Esta (3:44)
C1 Rugged Tranquility (4:07)
C2 Daylight (3:55)
C3 Hot Water (3:40)
C4 Sun Goddess (3:57)
D1 Kuhn´s Tune (2:31)
D2 Little Girl (Dakota´s Song) (2:21)
D3 Broken Dreams (5:34)
D4 Last Day (0:55)

dj caretaker's advice. i must say, it wasn't so good for the first time, i was hoping. first you need tubes in your equipment (dopamin's say) then a cup of tea, green thee, and a nice magazine with pictures from exotic places. then it'll be perfect. this is true modern jazz. i mean not rabbit-jazz, but true old fashioned jazz made in 2001. some of the tunes are really heavy, they aren't kiddin', but there are some for the beginners too. (so as i)

joe mcduphrey experience - experience EP ***

Stones Throw 2002

a1 Experience (2:30)
a2 Fifty Eight (0:58)
a3 Solar Waves (2:54)
a4 Song For Airto (4:20)
b1 Parallel Worlds (3:31)
b2 Tomorrow, Yesterday (3:44)
b3 Flower Of Life (5:15)

as the other one, this is recommanded to use together with a tea pot. if the YNQ is a dopamin record, it should be probably spityus choice.
mardi gras.bb - supersmell *****
hazelwood 2000

I told you many times, Mardy Gras is f**n good. Now I got them on vinyl.

ps. it's a strange thing visiting more record shops during the day. i thought the main question in a record shop is the big supply. well, i think i was wrong. i couldn't love a record shop where i get a reaction like "mardi what?" (like it happened in deep) i love stores where the seller guy knows inmediatly where to look at, and gives me at the same time three more vinyls. in arfophilia you get this kind of service. dj caretaker knows you.
mekon feat malk almond - please stay ****
wall of sound 2001

A1 Royksopp Remix
B1 Bertrand Burgalat's Vocal Remix
B2 Silly Rabbit

you can tell me, this's just another record from the past, and it's like taking a tour into the good old golden years, when we were young and boheme and when we were listening to big beat records like fatboy slim or freestylers. but i couldn't resist when i was checking the third track silly rabbit. i agree it could be a bit old fashioned by now, but you will move your feet i swear. and the two other tracks: the housy röyksopp sound and the melancholic burgalat remix with marc almond... i think i wasn't wrong with my choice today.

bmg 2003

1. A Thousand Beautiful Things
2. Pavement Cracks
3. The Hurting Time
4. Honestly
5. Wonderful
6. Bitter Pill
7. Loneliness
8. The Saddest Song I’ve Got
9. Erased
10. Twisted
11. Oh God (Prayer)

I swear, Annie, it's the second track, and it seems to me, nothing's changed. you're still that 40+ disturbed, loveley, sentimental woman, and i'm still mad about you. it's the third track and i think it's a miracle if somebody can give you the same emotions after all the years. your quiet soft voice, the electronical arrangement you use... i wish i were 6 years younger so i shouldn't feel ashamed that i am still crazy for what you do. and yeah, i like the picture on the CD too. you can not drive me away. i've been waiting for this record since 1995.

beyonce - crazy in love **
sony music, june 2003

oh mhamhhmmmamamama i like beyonce's new look. she's like j_lo. great style, nice outfit, but most of all.. beyonce is attractive. ehmm.. yeah. music. i love when pop songs got a difficult bassline, sophisticated arrangement, something different than the other, but still a pop song, like j-lo, justin timberlake, craig david, sugarbabes and beyonce does. i hope that this one will contain an instrumental version with an XXXL poster.

i've got this one on LP, legal CD :) and on a raggy old chrome type tape. this means something i think.
this is my fave album of all time. i am sure by now.
all time favorite record. there's no word left... and the videos
top10records ever
stupid question. there are more hundreds of records I've been listening to and made me happy.(or sad) i don't want to write a list. but if you ask for milestones, then here are some. and i give you a full life time warranty.

1984: illés - nehéz az út (1968)
1987: pet shop boys - actually (1987)
1991: rem - out of time (1991)
1996: genesis - seconds out (1977)
2002: dzihan kamien - gran riserva (2002)
chaka khan - never miss the water **
warner, 1996

A1. Never Miss the Water [Album Version]
A2. Never Miss the Water [Stylus Remix]
B1. Never Miss the Water [Franktified Club Mix]
B2. Never Miss the Water [Stylus Street Mix]
B3. Papillon (A.K.A. Hot Butterfly) [Album Version]

Should I go back to WAVE to get that for half price? It's summer and this's a nice party song, classic house tune with the fabulous voice of Chaka and featuring another great disappeared voice Meshell Ndegeocello . On the horns of a dilemma.

ps. no, i won't go back for it. this week i already bought one vinyl, and I ordered my old favorite Ninja Cuts CD...

space riders - 1999 promo ****
skint 1999

a1 monster munch
a2 king boz
b1 disco doctor
b2 crazy banana trio

I really do not like the WAVE store. They're the breaker guys, and becouse of some spiritual way I always do act like a stupid clumsy bedroom dj. (FYI I'd call myself a bathroom DJ.) Thid time everything seemed to be alright, I entered the store, EriS Cumo came to me just to say hi, checked the vinyls, (Abraham, a Catskill tune and some other stuff... not worth to mention) til I saw this Vinyl right between the second hand 12"'s. This classic tune DISCO DOCTOR I really love. It's funny, it makes everybody smile on the dancefloor, in the car, or during housekeeping, the video is just a masterpiece, it was half price... So I started to listen to the green sleeved record, til the guy came to me, that the better turntable is free to use, so I moved my record there, but I beated my head into the shelf, scratched a Chem.Bro.poster, dropped down the sleeve, hitted another guy... I probably should go back to Deep or Arfofilia Records, there I feel home and safe.

paul oakenfold - bunka *

9. Synphonie casuel
10. Landpartie
11. Escamotage
12. Crisi del rapporto fra uomo e donna
13. Seherazade mon amour
14. Requiem pour un melodie oublieux

Hunger for chicken, no mardi gras LP in store and a useless website... I agree I'm not in the right mood. But this record was so boring. Spityu loves IRMA tunes, I do it too, but this... give me a roast chicken and let me forget this LP and the hour that has taken away of my life.

massive attack - butterfly caught **
2003

1. Album Version
2. Paul Daley Remix
3. Octave One Remix
4. Rjd2 Remix
5. Jagz Kooner Remix
6. Version Point Five

the massive remixes. they're never bad. this time you get a wide offer of 'm. it's your choice how deep or how far you wanna go. my choice is to get far as possible from the opiumdesert-like original version, so this day's version is RJD2's remix. he's never wrong, this time neither. his version isn't scary anymore, just tired, sleepless, disturbed.

10 This Is Radio Theydon

it's like beth orton were singin in an electronic based post-symphonic rock group. quite eclectic sound, one is ticking like a clock, pure electronic, the other is like an old pink floyd from the 70's, or just an old soundtrack from the end title of a french film. but there's just one point which is the same: the nice sweet melancholic melodies in the background. i really would recommend you if you like the air or bent. pretty good chances for being a fave record.

4. South Coastin
5. Something That's Real
6. Hold It Down
7. Assassin
8. Terrapin
9. Bararabatiri

this's the best remedy against summer traffic jam. nice afro grooves mixed with the feeling of a live band, and in the same time brand new. buy the CD, (copy to a tape if it's necessary) tune in and the whole family will love it. there are short songs, some of them have lyrics too (possibility to sing along!!) there are hit songs, but take care, daddy will ride fast.

4. Hypnotised
5. Zoo York
6. Nixon's Spirit (feat. Hunter S. Thompson)

9. Get Em Up (Feat. Ice Cube)
10. Motion (feat. Grant Lee Phillips)
11. Harder They Come (feat. Nelly Furtado & Tricky)

You can hit me, but i like this record. I agree not so much as I do like Timo Maas his album, but there are some great tunes on this one too. Ok, and not all the tracks, especially not the raver-like ones. Well, comparing Timo and Paul is what everybody does, Timo's more underground, Paul is more for the public, i really don't know. Names like Shifty, Ice Cube, Tricky, and Nelly Furtando are the warranty of a best seller mainstream album. And it works. As I told, you can hit me. I am mad about how Shifty from Crazy Town sings .... dance all night to this deejaaay. :) hehe... cheap trick. (remember? Yama buttafly suga baba)

well thanx to wice's idea now i am surfing the net getting versions of this great song. there are versions made by oscar peterson, ella, anne shelton, bruce willis, doris day, harry connick jr, frankie boy, donald duck... all that swing all that jazz...

7. I See You Baby
8. A Private Interlude
9. At The River
10. In My Bones
11. Your Song
12. Inside My Mind (Blue Skies)

Why not a D&K record? Why G.A. again ? Well just becous i think i have to tell you my version of the G.A. story. It was the may of 1999, after I re-experienced the electronic music, i made a trip to the netherlands. it was a rainy (what else) morning, an old dutch female friend of my was married on that day. i tuned on the radio and i heard if everybody looked the same. i was shocked by the rhythm, i started to move my feet (i always do, okey, okey) and i knew i have to get this record. it wasn't released that time. so i came back to hungary, with two and half minutes of that song on a BASF C90 tape, and i was visiting all possible record shops in the town. nobody knew groove armada that time. i did.

the avalanches again
How could they mix Donald Duck with Azzido Da Bass? How do they know, that Osmonds Let me in and America's Ventura Highway are twintracks? How could they make you smile and happy just playing a Jackson 5 sample? They know their music, and most of all, they know and love their records. Every single second.

17. Live At Dominoe's
18. Extra Kings

Actually that's my favorite album of all time. (Right after REM's Out of time) Not becouse of that Madonna 'Holiday' sampler. Not just. It's totally crazy, however coherent, full of love, humor, and friendly sadness. And I bet, I was one of the first who owned this CD in Hungary. Why do I write this now? Cos I've been listening to a 25 minutes live set of Avalanches... and I thought there's no reason for me after this to act like a guy who can handle music. They can.
